The first generation ZJ was originally thought up in the mid 1980’s, and in 1989 was introduced as Jeep Concept 1. The body featured smoother lines, and more comfort features the Laredo and Limited trim levels were available every year, with other trim levels like the Overland being available certain years. The newest Jeep Grand Cherokee is the Wk, which has new styling and the 2006 year even includes a new engine option, the SRT8. Mechanical parts were left out in order to give the SRT8 Jeep Grand Cherokee a lighter weight, like the 4wheel low gear.
