The Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ was produced from 1999 to 2004 and had multiple trim options, and still 2 different engine options. The body featured smoother lines, and more comfort features the Laredo and Limited trim levels were available every year, with other trim levels like the Overland being available certain years. The newest Jeep Grand Cherokee is the Wk, which has new styling and the 2006 year even includes a new engine option, the SRT8. Mechanical parts were left out in order to give the SRT8 Jeep Grand Cherokee a lighter weight, like the 4wheel low gear.

Some vehicles that closely compare to the Jeep Grand Cherokee are the Chevrolet Equinox, Dodge Journey, Mazda CX-7, Ford Explorer, Mitsubishi Endeavor, and many more
